Neris Aviyonik opens a new clean-room facility in Eskişehir

The new 8,200 square meter facility will triple flight control computer production capacity.

Neris Aviyonik Teknolojileri has opened its new production and test facility at the Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone with a ceremony. The facility, with 8,200 square meters of covered space, will triple the company's capacity for flight control computers and power distribution units.

Facility features

The new building includes a 410 square meter ISO Class 7 clean room, a surface-mount technology (SMT) line, conformal coating and automated optical inspection stations. The environmental test laboratory can perform temperature, humidity, vibration, shock and electromagnetic compatibility tests. Traceability on the production lines is ensured by a manufacturing execution system that records every board at component level.

Employment and skills

The investment amounted to USD 46 million. The facility employs 210 people at the first stage, rising to 380 over the next two years. Fifty-four percent of employees are engineers and 31 percent are women. Under a joint program with Anadolu University, 40 students are trained as interns each year and successful ones are hired by the company.

Market and partnerships

The company supplies domestic aircraft platforms, helicopter modernization programs and civil regional aircraft manufacturers. About 45 percent of the new capacity is planned for export projects. The facility has been brought under the AS9100D certificate and has passed the facility security audits of the Presidency of Defense Industries.

Sustainability

The building was designed to target LEED Gold: a 2.1 MW solar plant on the roof, rainwater harvesting and licensed recovery of used solder and solvent waste. Forty percent of the facility's electricity needs will be met by its own plant.

Opening remarks

Neris Defense and Aerospace Group President Özgür Karahan said at the opening: “Reducing dependence on imports in critical electronic subsystems is possible by deepening engineering capability locally. This facility is a concrete step on that road.”

The company plans to complete qualification tests of its next-generation power distribution unit by 2027.

Contribution to the region

With this investment, Eskişehir's aerospace and defense supply chain is getting stronger. The facility will generate new order flow for 18 local manufacturing firms in cabling, enclosure machining and coating. The company has also set up an electronics assembly workshop with the local vocational high school; senior students receive hands-on training at the facility two days a week.

Quality assurance

The production lines apply first-article inspection, environmental stress screening and hundred-percent functional testing. Zero major nonconformities were recorded in customer audits in 2025. The facility will complete its first audit for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification in the third quarter of 2026.

The period ahead

In the second phase of the facility, a 3,000 square meter annex in 2027 will increase mechanical testing and environmental chamber capacity. The company also plans to grow its flight control software team by another 40 engineers in the same period.
